Well Sheeeeeeeeit… looks like I’ve been slacking on the updates… sorry about that. I know that this is such a popular blog I have people beating down my virtual door to get updates. I know, my life is just that interesting.

Well, I haven’t written in a few days and I feel bad about that. Work has been crazy busy off and on, plus I’ve been working my butt off getting this party ready for tomorrow (I’d post the invitation here but I know that all four of you who read this have already seen it). We’ve been doing all kinds of cool things that should only be done by elementary school kids (for good reason) and if not for the excellent end product, will never attempt again. The “Dia De Los Muertos” skulls we did look awesome, but the were a heck of a lot of work. Paper Maché should only be done by people who eat paste by nature, it’s all part of the same mindset, and ever since I started using paste as a make up effect instead of a snack, I’ve been in the right by not doing any paper maché.
Back to Work!
Well, I’m back at work. I’m feeling much better now, my cold is pretty much only in my ears.
We’re inplementing new security systems on the PCs in the lab to combat the hackers. Unfortunately we have to down most of the lab so I have faculty who are unaware of the hacking at all coming in a complaining that the lab is pretty much inoperable on the PC side. We’re doing everything we can to get it all up by the end of the day. Maybe I should work through lunch.
Blockbuster is BUSTED
100 characters? Thats it? They expect me to make a well thought out and argumentative comment in 100 characters? Who are these people?
I may be switching back to Hastings VERY SOON! They have a smaller selection and may be more out of the way, but the prices are better and they carry WIDESCREEN!
ahhCHOOOO
I’ve been fighting a cold for the last couple days. I never really get that sick, but yesterday I was feeling bad enough I decided I needed to take a day off. Sheesh, I’m either really sick or really sick of work.
“Big Trouble”
Oh yeah, and if you are relatively recovered from the 9/11 tragedy and can safely laugh at airport security and inept hijackers, then go see “Big Trouble.” It’s quite possibly one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a long time. But it is obvious why this movie did not release last October as expected.
2001-12/18
Day 1:
We left Denton on Dec. 18 and headed out to Virginia via Atlanta to see an old highschool friend of mine.
After Heather recalculated the trip time, we realized that our 11 hour trip was really a 13 hour trip and that we would be getting into Atlanta much later that we had ever anticipated. Jen still came out to see us even though we didn’t get into the hotel until after 10:00.
Unfortunately getting in that late we were up very late talking when Jen finally got to the hotel (she got lost on the way). We didn’t get to bed until 2:00 that night, which is pretty late to be going to bed when you have a 8 hour drive ahead of you the next morning.
Well, it’s the first day of classes here on campus, and while that doesn’t mean that much to me, it does have some bearing on my work. It’s the first day all the students come back and start filling the hallways. That’s obvious to me since my office is at the end of a narrow hallway with three major classrooms in it. When classes are changing it’s nearly impossible to get to the office, especially if you’re actually moving anything. I had to move 15 monitors this morning from the lab to the office and there were people in the way the entire time. What a pain.
AAURGGHH!!!
I never expected this day to be this horrible!
Today is the first day that faculty return to school, a week before classes start. We’re down to the wire on everything that needs doing. I thought that getting the new systems up would be a breeze but it’s getting worse and worse. A simple 5 minute problem has turned into a hour and half hell on wheels. I was supposed to be able to walk into the lab this morning, set up a multicast and poke go. That was 5 hours ago, I have one out of twenty machines that almost works.
Tired, so tired today. Had a good weekend, started my Temple game at Derek’s (http://pelovish.com/dnd/temple) and watched Rush Hour 2. Also we rented Saving Silverman. Damn that movie was a lot better than I had expected (Neil Diamond – WOOOO!!!). Anyway, today’s been dreary. It rained this weekend and that makes me happy, end of the drout and all, but it’s made my Monday pretty dreary.
