AAURGGHH!!!
I never expected this day to be this horrible!
Today is the first day that faculty return to school, a week before classes start. We’re down to the wire on everything that needs doing. I thought that getting the new systems up would be a breeze but it’s getting worse and worse. A simple 5 minute problem has turned into a hour and half hell on wheels. I was supposed to be able to walk into the lab this morning, set up a multicast and poke go. That was 5 hours ago, I have one out of twenty machines that almost works.
AURRGGGHHHHH!!!
I’m going to be here late late late tonight and I’m only starting the first 20 machines out of 100+. What a pain in the ass. I planned out my week this morning in a way that I thought I would be able to manage but is looks like this is going to get a lot more difficult. No one really want’s to format their zip disks, do they?
So here I am back in the office trying to figure out the solution to the problem that plagued me in the lab for an hour and a half, hoping that I’ll be able to figure it out before 5:00 while everyone else in the office is leaving and taking vacation time… Where’s my vacation?
Damnit.
I want to scream and yell and break shit but typing fast and angry is going to have to do the trick. Hopefully I don’t make too many typos that this is completely unintelligible.
Great, now why is my base computer not booting up right… I see more problems brewing. Maybe I should stop typing this before it gets way out of hand and makes no sense at all…

So I did have a really good weekend though. I had a Birthday Cookout on Saturday. A lot of people showed up, almost more than I expected. I had a really good time. I got a little drunk but, hey, it was my birthday. It was really casual though, I told everyone to bring whatever they wanted to eat or drink, I wasn’t’ going to provide anything other than the fire. I cooked everything for everyone pretty much and only missed the timing on one thing. That’s pretty good for cooking for like 20 people on one grill.
It was a nice lot of people and a really good time. I was really happy. It was one of the best birthdays I’ve had for a while. I was sorry Craig and Raina couldn’t show up but there were a lot of other people there too. I’d really like to see Craig be able to come out to some more gatherings, and especially Krysta and Raina. I appreciate their company when I can.
Then Sunday I sat around the house a lot, played a fat pile of Diablo and then cooked dinner for Heather and I. Around ten and night we finally got out of the house and went to see “Rat Race.” I laughed my ass off. Heather said she laughed so hard her throat hurt. I think that means it was a really funny movie. I’m probably going to end up getting it on DVD as soon as it comes out.

So really it was a good weekend until I had to come back to work this morning.
