Well, my job has decided that I need to be at work much earlier than I used to be. I have to actually be at work between 7:30 and 7:45 every morning. What’s more is that I have to sit in the lab for those first 15-30 minutes just in case someone (faculty) needs access before their class. Oh well, maybe I’ll actually start doing a daily thought in LiveJournal as a result.
Well, it’s Tuesday morning, it’s almost 10:30 and I’m the only one in the office. I’m sitting here listening to P-Funk I’ll be honest, I’m totally thinking of sex. I’ve got nothing going on at work, my gaming stuff is all caught up for the next few days and I’m left with myself and the endless expanse of the internet that is relatively full of porn. What else am I expected to be thinking of. Anyway, I decided I’d write a little to take my mind off my dick.
Well, I had a vaguely productive weekend. I played HERO on Friday. I think the game is going great, I’m afraid that 
Derek may be disheartened by it though. Our characters are supposed to be very mundane in the modern world and then strange, supernatural things start happening. As role players, this is often a tough concept to play, to not take these things that are typical to RPGs in stride and end up being too cool for school. I think so far the three players are playing freaked out and confused very realistically. Derek seems a bit thrown off by some of our reactions, but I think he’s enjoying it. Though there were about 10 minutes on friday that he just covered his eyes and shook his head (Mike has that effect on people though).
The weather’s been FREAKY here the last couple days, in fact, today is the first day I’ve been at work since Monday (it’s Thursday for those of you reading this in the future without the benefit archival calendars ). The University closed down at 1:30 on Monday and stayed closed for Tuesday and Wednesday. The roads were pretty much an inch of solid ice for the last two days. It wasn’t until around noon or so yesterday that the roads started to convert to slush and we stopped hearing the slip sliding sounds of cars dancing on the roads outside; so we decided to go out and get some errands done since we had a free day to do whatever we wanted.
Well, yesterday was MLK Day, today my Dad’s coming down to visit (he’s here on business, but has the afternoon off), and tomorrow I leave for Indiana and Winter Fantasy!
Well, I picked up the d20 Modern book yesterday. I had looked at it at the store and mused about it a long time. Derek is supposed to be starting a game for d20 Modern that I’m very excited to play (it was originally going to be Spycraft, but he prefered d20 Modern, I tend to agree now). I don’t know exactly what the set up is going to be, I know Derek used to be planning a game based on the town where we live, but he used that for a different group, so there’s no telling what this new game is going to be based around. I know he toyed around with a Dallas game, but I don’t know what he decided on. I hope I hear from him so I can get started on a character!
2002-1/23 Winter Fantasy
Day 1:
The week leading up to this trip was a horrible one. A fight with Heather, a depressing trip to Best Buy, a medicore Gaming session with a new character, a frustrating day at work, a very difficult time at packing and finally a late night trying to put music on the Clie, that resulted in no luck what-so-ever. I only hope that the first two days of the week do not represent the week itself. I’ve been looking forward to this trip for a couple of months now and hope that it is at least as good as it was last year.
