The weather’s been FREAKY here the last couple days, in fact, today is the first day I’ve been at work since Monday (it’s Thursday for those of you reading this in the future without the benefit archival calendars ). The University closed down at 1:30 on Monday and stayed closed for Tuesday and Wednesday. The roads were pretty much an inch of solid ice for the last two days. It wasn’t until around noon or so yesterday that the roads started to convert to slush and we stopped hearing the slip sliding sounds of cars dancing on the roads outside; so we decided to go out and get some errands done since we had a free day to do whatever we wanted.
We got our tax return the other day, and had decided it was going to go toward new front doors for the house, as our current ones are pathetic. To preface the next part, Heather and I pretty much despise Home Depot. At any rate, we had some brochures for steel and fiberglass doors from Lowes and Home Depot that we had just picked up for ideas. After much debate (and not much looking at the supplier) we decided on a fiberglass door from Stanley Doors. Unfortunately, the brochure was from Home Depot, and no matter how much the door specialist at Lowes told us “if Stanley makes it, we can get it,” he sadly informed us it was an exclusive to Home Depot and that he would not be able to order it for us. S now we’re going to have to go to that store to get our damn door. And if that wasn’t bad enough, we found out that the Millwork Specialist at that store is only available Monday – Thursday from 7am – 4pm. So pretty much we’ll never get to see the guy to even order our door. What the hell?
On the gaming front, since Winter Fantasy, I’ve found a group of RPGA members here in town that play every two weeks, LivingGreyhawk on the second saturday and LivingForce on the fourth. I’ve played in one of each and haven’t met a person yet that I wouldn’t be opposed to gaming with again, plus I’ve got both Gray and Nick both playing with me too. It’s pretty bad ass, we’re a new influx of players.
May keeps getting closer. Not only is it our fifth anniversary, but also my
brother and his
wife are moving down here at the end of May. It’s going to be a big month. Heather and I have no idea what we’re going to do, but five seems somehow significant, even in it’s minuteness. We’ve been through a lot in the five years we’ve been married and the five years before that. I think we are quickly approaching some of the best years of our lives, and I’m incredibly happy about that.
Work’s been pretty good lately, I feel like all of us in the office are getting along much better. I don’t know if it’s the fact that we’re all getting screwed by the same people now or the fact that there’s visibly less UO in the office, or that Nick is doing such an excellent job on cutting down our mundane workload we can concentrate on the more difficult shit. It’s probably a combination of them all, at any rate, it’s a much more pleasant time to be working here, well, except for the fact that Heather and I are starting to feel a little money shy and working for anyone other than the government, while less forgiving of our Work Ethics, would pay much better.
Heather and I have a lot of things we’d like to do to the house. We need money for that. We’re getting new doors as I’ve said, but we want to get a new kitchen, we want an expansive deck, we want to rip up carpet and revive the hardwood floors. There’s a lot of things we want to do to the house that we don’t have the time or money for. I want/need a new car. I could get the old one fixed (for about $2000+) but it’s been so inconvinient in the past, what with all the stuff we have to move, carry, buy or cart away for/from the new house. I hate the idea of pickup trucks, be we totally need something more utilitarian. Unfortunately I don’t forsee myslelf picking up an extra $25,000 any time soon. Finally, Heather and I are looking more and more forward to having a child. We don’t feel prepared financially for it at all, but it’s becoming more and more a topic of discussion at our house. We feel like we’re ready mentally and emotionally, but even while most couples are never fully prepared for a child, we feel like we should at least be a bit more in control of our finances. I think we’re both starting to feel a little older now and are getting concerened that we shouldn’t wait too long to do this.
Oh well, I’ve probalby rambled on long enough for this one post and it’s time to go to lunch.
On another note, There’s always this:
I’m only offended by the comparison of feet to penises, as my penis is distinctly smaller than my foot. From now on, I would rather this be declared an 18 Wanger Penis, rather than a 9 Foot Penis.
