I haven’t written much in a few days, but I’ve been kind of, well okay not busy, per se, but distracted.

dang, now I have to poop… I’ll write more later, maybe.

I saw someone LiveJournaling in the lab yesterday. Made me wonder if it was one of the many art students on my friends list that I have no idea who they are or what they look like. Oh well, couldn’t spy close enough to see what the username of the journal they were reading was.

Varia2 asked me why we’re here, what our purpose is, and I’m rather inspired by my own answer… (yeah, every now and then I impress myself and have to pat myself on my own back):

I’ve actually posted a bunch of backdated entries, stuff I got off of my old PDA. I decided since I got a new PDA, that I didn’t need to bring all my old journal entries over from the old PDA to the new one, I could just post them here for posterity. This way I still have them and they don’t have to take up space on the limited RAM on the Clié

I feel bad about how I get about sex sometimes. I know that it’s not helping the situation a lot, but it’s very important and very emotional to me, so when I realize I’ve missed an opportunity, or an opportunity isn’t going to be available to me for an extended period of time, I get upset, or sad, or depressed because I want to see improvement, I do see improvement, I see change, I get hopeful. At the same time I am so paranoid of backsliding. We’ve had months where things were awesome, times when we were scared that things were going to get worse, so almost out of desperation, things got better, but in time they have always come back to the same status quo, and that’s why it effects me so much I think. I feel so bad about it, but at the same time, I can’t seem to lose the paranoia. Maybe it’s because it’s happened so many times, we’ll get on a good streak and then a month later I’ll realize it’s as if nothing ever changed.

Brandon and his girlfriend came over last night and bought us pizza. He’s the best nephew I’ve ever had. We watched Léon and generally just hung out. I couldn’t believe he hadn’t seen it before. I mean, come on! It’s Léon! Anyway, it was a good time, I really enjoy his company and he seems to really enjoy hanging out with us and watching movies.

  • When did Dan Cortese become Dan “Corteezee?”

As it says on his bio on IMDB, “His surname is pronounced Cor-tez.” So why is it now that all the commercials for his new show pronounce it “Cor-TEE-zee?” Did he just wake up one day and decide to change it? Or maybe he was visiting his Grandfather, who came to this country as a boy, and was told “You dumb shit! You’re name is Corteezee! What do you want people to think, that we’re Mexicans?” Which of course would have been preceded by a sharp smack to the head. Whatever happened, he’s apparently changed it, either that or the announcer is a dumbass.

In fact, I’d like to change the pronunciation of my last name at will, too. From now on my last name will be spelled “Close” but it will be pronounced “Throatwarberler-Mangrove!”

  • Let me show you an AMAAAAAZING thing

I was sitting at my desk working, listening to my Nomad as I usually do. It was a song from Bollywood Funk that I downloaded the other day. When the song ended, I swore it started again, but when I looked it was a completely different song by Tricky.

Well, things are going pretty well right now. The movie night last night went better than expected. We had a fair number of people show up and had a good old time watching the movie. Most everyone was impressed by the movie in one way or another. Laura said “Oh… …Mygod!” more times than I even expected, and ErezethJeremy actually raised his hands in triumph in the middle declaring it the “Best Movie Ever.” Even VishvakarmanBen has put it close on par with Leprechaun 4: In Space which is a pretty high regard in his world. We hung out for a few hours after the movie, trying to decide what we were going to watch next time. I’m thinking we’re going to watch Emperor’s New Groove so that some people who were not willing to degrade themselves with Bad Taste, can participate. Now this doesn’t mean I’m going to keep the cinematic quality this high all the time, I’m probably going to keep the movies varried and rather unexpected. I’m even going to toy around with trying to rent stuff too so that we’re not limited to my movies only.
