Well, against all odds I got my the last part of my costume (okay the second part, but still) in the mail yesterday. I was checking up on the order info and found that it had shipping listed as 10-14 days. That wouldn’t have been so bad, had I not ordered it last friday. So I needed in 7 or less. Maybe I paid for faster shipping and I don’t remember, but I have it now and that’s all that matters.

We played the conclusion to the Homeguard storyline. I have no idea when we’re going to pick these characters up again, but we all seemed excited to see where they go next. We’re prepping for the next series though, starting out as humans fighting thugs again. I’m starting out as a street magician/martial atist. Kind of a David Blaine meet Kane from Kung Fu. Don’t know when we’re gonna start up again, or where the game is going to take place, but I’m looking forward to it. I think I need a break from Shadow Knight, especially after everything he’s been through recently. Some serious mind fuckage gone on, thanks Danny, excellent game!

Halloween is Friday!

Tuesday, October 28th, 2003 | LiveJournal Archives | 2 Comments

So Halloween is Friday. I feel like I haven’t deditcated myself to it as much I usually do. I love Halloween, it’s my favorite holliday, but with all the crazy shit going on these days, I’ve almost completely overlooked it. We got the makin’s for my costume last night and I plan to make it tonight. Tomorrow night, after work, I intend to get a pumpkin or two and do some carving. HeatherEJCHeather says she’s not going to carve this year. She never seems to really enjoy it anyway. She likes the result plenty, but the carving just doesn’t seem to do anything for her. Maybe I’ll carve a cat just for her. 😉

I’ve been wanting to paint minis all week but I just haven’t been able to get around to it. Something keeps coming up. Last night we didn’t get home ’til late because I was at a meeting that ran really late. By the time I got home, the last thing I wanted to do was sit down and concentrate that closely on painting. It doesn’t help that the dining room table is still in the kitchen covered with stuff while Heather refinishes the dining room floor. I’m happy she’s doing it, but it’s kind of become a convenient excuse not to paint.

I hate having to enforce rules and policies in the lab that people have no idea about and goes against their very beliefs. People have these ideas of things they’re supposed to be allowed to do, but sometimes, those ideas are not in line with our policies.

Okay, that’s it, I either want to be given the website and all it’s rights and priveleges, honor and respect; or be told never to touch it again. I’m tired of this lame, half ass shit.

The lab attendant this morning couldn’t remember if work started at 8:00 or 9. WTF? I can’t wait to ge the timeclock software in place. I know they’ll hate it at first, but they’ll learn to loathe it in time.

I played some more Green Regent this weekend. I haven’t decided which was better of the two I’ve played. The judge for the second wasn’t nearly as good as the first Orosjudge. It was only slightly less video-game-y than the first one we played, but still very much a combat romp. We almost got TPKed by a dire Badger (seems a little tough for 5 level one characters). Anyway, it was a good trip and worth the drive I think.

Oh well, time to go back to the office.

“The first known contraceptive was crocodile dung, used by the Egyptians in 2000 B.C. It was replaced with elephant droppings when they realized it wouldn’t work.”

How is one really any better than the other?

“While nudity was considered commonplace to the ancient Greeks, a man was considered indecent if he had an exposed erection.”

What did they do, carry around baskets just in case?

I hate being left out of shit and then having it thrown at me like I was supposed to have been involved the whole time.

We were watching I Love the 80’s: Strikes Back the other day and HeatherEJCHeather made an astute observation: the stuff they’re showing on this second series is the stuff that she and I are more familiar with and strikes closer to our memories. Apparently, we liked all the stuff that was secondary in the 80’s. Oh well, I was 7-17 in the 80’s, I guess I would like the more afterthough type shit then. Not to say I’m on top of the style curve now even.

I have this inexplicable need to be useful to people in the world, I think that’s why I make stuff like this and these and put them out on the internet for the world to see. I want to think that something I do with my time is worth something to someone. My web site is full of that kind of crap, stuff I think someone else will want or need sometime. I’m not really trying to advertise myself or entertain the world, I just want to make something that someone somewhere will say “wow, I was hoping someone would make this!”

Okay, so that was my self promotion statement I guess.

A song came on my media player earlier that totally made me miss running my vampire game. I had this NPC in my game that new everyone and everything about the city and he walked around town with a huge 80’s style boombox. The idea was vaguely stolen from the video for said song, in which an anthropromorphized dog walks around on crutches trying to carry his boombox, groceries, and whatever else he’s picking up on his errands. I just liked the idea of this guy that knew everyone and walked around town all night. Everywhere he went, someone knew him and he could have a conversation at the drop of a hat, the whole time of course, carry this boombox that’s blaring and almost making conversation difficult. So whenever I ran, I would make sure that somewhere in the CD changer was at least one CD that had that one song on it. If and when that song played, no matter what, the NPC made a random, unexpected visit. Sometimes it was as bit of a stretch, but it was still bad ass. Now whenever I hear that song, I think of that NPC and my game. YEEUH.

Shit. I want to do this D&D game, but I really do prefer modern games. Doesn’t matter too much, I don’t know when I would run, who would play, or when I would have time to do the game justice.

  • The funny thing about regret is, that it’s better to regret something you have done, than something you haven’t.
  • Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed in the things that you didn’t do than in the ones you did do.
