From the Book of Failed Catchphrases
Pg. 175:
“You can take a horse to water, but you can’t give him the co-ordination to row a rowboat.”

So there’s a setting in Windows XP that’s driving me nuts! I fixed it about 4 months ago to not happen, but now its back and the fix I used before doesn’t seem to be fixing it this time. I have no idea what to do to make it work.

“Have Green Pride”
So there are these new signs on campus that I’m not quite sure how to react to.
At the edge of certain grassy areas (what few haven’t been paved over) there are now signs that say “Have Green Pride. Please do not Walk on the Grass.” I’m not sure how I feel about that because in my opinion, grass is meant to be walked on. The problem is, the campus doesn’t want paths worn in the grass, but in my opinion, a path blazed through a grassy field is a lot better than some chaotically paved sidewalk (the campus has a tendency to pave over any path that has been worn in the grass). So now these signs are popping up all over the place, but oddly enough, frequently only on one side of a grassy area.
I don’t know how strong of a suggestion this is and if I should heed it at all. I am the kind of person that would rather be walking on paths and through fields than on sidewalks, but now the campus is insisting that I not walk on the grass at all. I’m fairly certain I don’t care what they say, but then again, they sign my paycheck.
The other thing the signs make me wonder, what kind of pride would we have if our school color was something other than green?

“Have Green Pride…”
“…Please Do Not Walk on the Grass.”Funny thing though, there was a sign up table in the middle of the grass.

The latest development in the Digital Photo Storage debate is this:
If I shoot in RAW+JPG format (which saves two files, a 10mb RAW and a 3mb JPEG) I can pretty much ignore the fact that most of the devices I’m looking at can’t view RAW files. Just means my memory card can only hold 81 images instead of 111. Every time I look at something, I have a different reaction.
Of course, devices that can show the RAW format, can show the EXIF data as well, and that could actually be useful in the field.
Grr – Argh.

I kind of knew this already
