“Have Green Pride”

So there are these new signs on campus that I’m not quite sure how to react to.

At the edge of certain grassy areas (what few haven’t been paved over) there are now signs that say “Have Green Pride. Please do not Walk on the Grass.” I’m not sure how I feel about that because in my opinion, grass is meant to be walked on. The problem is, the campus doesn’t want paths worn in the grass, but in my opinion, a path blazed through a grassy field is a lot better than some chaotically paved sidewalk (the campus has a tendency to pave over any path that has been worn in the grass). So now these signs are popping up all over the place, but oddly enough, frequently only on one side of a grassy area.

I don’t know how strong of a suggestion this is and if I should heed it at all. I am the kind of person that would rather be walking on paths and through fields than on sidewalks, but now the campus is insisting that I not walk on the grass at all. I’m fairly certain I don’t care what they say, but then again, they sign my paycheck.

The other thing the signs make me wonder, what kind of pride would we have if our school color was something other than green?

That’s retarded. A smarter school would just pave over the paths that are worn down in the grass, since that’s obviously where students want to walk, anyway. I believe Pepperdyne, when first built, waited until paths became worn down in the grass to have any paved walkways at all, because that indicated where the traffic would be.

yeah, but that kind of bugs me to. I mean what the hell is wrong with paths?

we already have a ton of chaotic sidewalks streaking at bizarre angles and directions, with a lot of duplicate routes that are obviously a result of students who just would rather not walk on concrete.

Hmm, really? The ones that come to mind for me are the diagonal ones that run in that area between the Union/business building/biology building/GAB area. I always used them because it’d be silly to walk an L-shaped path on concrete when you can take the shorter diagonal route.
