Well, as nice as firefox and thunderbird were, I think I’m going to have to chage back to mozilla as I can’t reply to posts with FireFox. I’ll wait for the next version I guess. I’m going to go download Mozilla 1.7 again.

Okay, so the main reason I had gone to get the Free Comic Books is because I knew there was going to be a free 24 comic. Little did I know that really it was a teaser comic that had about 6 pages each of 24, CSI, The Shield, and 30 Days of of Night. All the teasers were really disjointed and uninteresting. Not very good hooks in my mind. In fact, the only interesting thing about it all was realizing what 30 Days of Night referred to. Other than that, it was a waste of time. I can’t say that the teaser really made me interested to read the 24 comic either, but I may peruse it if one shows up at the shop.
Anyway, I just thought I’d let you know, the 24 comic teaser sucked.
so bored, but I think its too late to start watching a movie now. I guess I’ll read those comic books I picked up on Free Comic Book Day, though they’re not nearly as cool as last year’s.
BTW, if anyone’s interested, Hastings now has tons of copies of The Rundown used, and marked down to $9.99.
I thought this looked too cool to not promote!
OH HELL YES!
I just realized I never submitted the entry I wrote up yesterday afternoon. Whoops.
Heather and I went and bought Paint for the computer room (also known as “my room”) yesterday. I’d picked out the colors a couple weeks ago and Lowes had a really good rebate deal yesterday, so we went and took advantage of it. Of course, with the $10 rebate on every Gallon of American Tradition paints, we ended up buying one Gallon of American tradition, one Quart of American Tradition and one Gallon of Olympic. Not really that much saved in the long run. We bought the one gallon of Olympic because I had picked Olympic colors in the first place and when we went to match the Olympic paint samples to the American Tradition paints, it just didn’t exist. It was the perfect color and it didn’t match anything in American Tradition so we settled on paying full price for that can of paint, while the other two did actually have matches in American Tradition. We should have bought a gallon of the color we bought in the quart because after the rebate, it was nearly the same price.
Now these are very rough estimates of the colors since I don’t have the paint samples with me and I’m picking them from web colors, but this is a good idea of what the room colors will be. The molding along the floor is going to be very tall, maybe 8-10″ even, I haven’t decided yet. I’ll probably buy plain wood and then use a router to round the edges rather than buying actual trim because it’s crazy expensive. One wall will actually not be painted, instead it will have these large japanese style doors on it with a kind of yellowed ivory color fabric where the rice paper would normally be, as well as curtains of the same fabric on either side of them.

Heather did mention yesterday that if we replace the trim before redoing the floor, there may be a gap between the trim and the wood when we go to pull up the carpet, so I may just go ahead and pull up the carpet for now and not necesarily finish the floor, maybe just throw down a rug until we have the time and energy to acually refinish another floor. It’s going to be a big project and, unlike most of the other room projects, this one’s primarilly all me, though I’m going to get Heather to help as much as possible. She already helped me buy the paint, now I just need her to help me move furniture, pull up carpet, paint walls and like that. I’m even thinking of removing the trim between the room and the closet to give it a smoother shift from the bold green to the pale green. Maybe I’ll pull that off sometime this week.
Oh, and in the middle of all this, I get to start excersizing, plan the next session of Spycraft (without my notes which were on the portable hard drive), and keep up with all my regular daily/weekly activities. Sheesh.
pretentiousfool made me realize I don’t know what some of you look like, some of you don’t know what I look like, and to split the difference, some of you don’t know what some others of you look like. So lets try his experiment here, shall we?
I’ll start by posting a picture of myself, and you reply with a picture of yourself.
It’s been another slow, boring day so far. I kept myself busy with a satirical entry in the 24_contest, but otherwise I’ve been doing nothing but sitting here, trying to figure out how to get the lab to close on Wednesday. So far, no one’s signed up for hours on Wednesday night and that’s a bad thing. I have at least one Lab Attendant who hasn’t yet signed up, and another who won’t even start until July 23rd. If I can just get Wednesday evening and Sunday evening covered, we’ll be good. Of course covering the morning shifts would be really nice too, since I wouldn’t have to sit down here any longer, though I am getting pretty content with the hours I spend in here. I turn on some music and just sit back and relax in mind numbing boredom. Now if only I had a better chair.
Last night was pretty fun. The fireworks were pretty cool, even if the people next door to our party had way better ones. They must have spend a whole bunch of money because they had some really big explosions and they went on all night long. Usually they have really cool fireworks, but they run out early in the night. Last night they stopped only a short while before we went home. They were on par with some of the more professional shows I’ve seen. I mean damn. You go motorolla guy!
I ate WAY too much, Sim was amazed that I kept eating but the food was awesome. I just couldn’t help myself. It’s just that Grilling Parties are my biggest food weakness. I like the taste of food cooked over a fire, and I like all the side dishes that usually make an appearance at a picnic like that. And then they had pie! I’m a sucker for pie. Didn’t drink too terribly much, but just before we left, aramance made me try the Watermelon baby that oros prepared. I thought it was a bit strong, and a bit mushy, which I guess was a bad idea so Heather ended up driving home. I was feeling kind of sick, but I think it was from eating too much and then running around with Zach on my shoulders. It was a really good party all the same and as always, I’m glad we went. And as corwin75 said, the tension that could have been present was not, adn that’s a very good thing.
So I got shot down on the 24_contest community again. I keep making icons that are different and original, and all the other members of the community keep voting for the icons that all look the same and follow a format. It’s so frustrating. I mean, come on, soften filter, color shift and scripty text every time? WTF? You people need to realize that you’re just all following a shepherd to a slaughter house. I could lower myself to their level and just do the same tripe, but why bother. Then again, if they’re going to keep shunning my originality and artistic vision, why do I keep playing their game? I should just let them go off and do their own thing.
Heather and I went to go biking today, but when we got there, I found that my slowly deflating tires had decided to act a bit faster and the rear tire had completely deflated. I had ordered new ones yesterday, but they’re not going to come in until the 18th, so now it looks like I won’t be biking again for about two weeks. We wasted about an hour of the day, packing up the bikes, taking them to the park, fucking around with the tire, packing the bikes back up and driving back. I could have rebuilt the computer today instead. this weekend has definitely been an up and down weekend.
