So heather got this movie from NetFlix and the longer it played, the more familiar it looked, even this fat, ugly stripper. All of a sudden a scene comes up and it snaps to me. I’ve seen this movie. I look at heather and shout “We’ve seen this!” She, strangely, looked confused, and apparently didn’t see it with me. The big giveaway that I’d seen it is that it takes place in Denton. My boss, Craig, brought the movie to my attention some years back and I watched it, I think, on a VHS that he recorded for me.
Its so weird because its a fiercely independent film and I’ve randomly stumbled upon it twice, now. Had heather checked it out of Netflix because it was flimed in Denton, it would be less of a coincidence, but she had no idea. Now I don’t know what to do, I want to watch this movie with Heather, but I don’t really want to watch the movie again, I remember being unmoved by it the first time. Not sure I want to see it a second time.
Oh, and why does everything in Texas have to be so damned “country?” Denton may have been a little bit more rural in 1998, but it was sure no flat, vacant cow-town.
okay, its hard, but Play With Me is WAY fun.
I just finished my first run through Guitar Hero Encore: Rockin’ the 80s and it was really fun. I like REALLY fun. Thats not to say that the first two full games weren’t fun, but this one was extra fun. I think its because I knew more of the songs, but also, as a review I read suspected, the songs may be just a touch easier. I scored almost all fives across the board on the first try and even scored a perfect 100% on one song (almost on two, damn it).
I know that I’ve gotten better at the format through all my play on GH1 and GH2 but I still think this one is overall easier, but that doesn’t ruin my experience at all, it just makes me feel like I’m rocking that much harder. I suspect, unless they ramp up the difficulty a lot, this game may help me learn to play at the Hard and Expert levels. Then I can take my newly acquired five button play back to the older games and see if it works out for me.
Anyway, just wanted to touch in after two days of play and let everyone know how much it rocks. Also, I apologize in advance for my second Guitar Hero photo of the day in a row. Its kind of been my focus the past two days. Sad, really, but true.
In honor of Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s coming out this week, we will be watching Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. Show will start at 8:30, to be preceded with plenty of guitar hero rocking! Come early if you want to rock out!
I’ve got so much stuff coming up in the next couple months, I’m starting to feel a little overwhelmed.
The baby is getting closer, and he’s getting SO MUCH BIGGER! Heather still doesn’t look huge to me. With all the baby shows she watches, and my attunement to other pregnant women, Heather is still petite for being pretty well seven months pregnant. The baby on the other hand, he rolls around in there and you can feel him like a cat in a pillowcase. He’ll do a summersault and you can just feel his whole body roll past you like some creature swimming by under the surface of a calm lake. With him being so much more real beneath the surface of Heather’s belly, I’m getting very excited about meeting him in person. Also, the fact that Connor and Ewan are getting so damned cute doesn’t hurt.
My brother and his wife are coming in to town in like three weeks. They’re going to be here for four days and we’ve got a whirlwind schedule planned for them. I think we’ve got something tentatively planned for every day. Its going to be crazy but it will be a blast.
That same weekend, as part of their whirlwind plan, we’ll be going to Craig and Laura’s Luau on Saturday; and then after we’ve recovered, we’ll be going to the Boys & Girls BBQ Baby Shower that Angela is hosting for us. I always look forward to the Luau, and now I’m doubly looking forward to the shower because we’ll have so many friends from different circles there, I always love that. Plus, there’s the gifts, but really, I’m more looking forward to the party.
And then, in the short term, I’ll be picking up Guitar Hero: 80’s Encore this afternoon. I don’t know why Guitar Hero has such an appeal to me, but I LOVES it and I’ve been needing some new songs.
And of course every time someone even whispers the words HeroScape, I get twitchy. I love that game a little bit too much, too.
