Well, I didn’t get to drive on the beach like I had hoped, but by the time I thought I’d get around to it, the tide was too high and I could have gotten trapped. As of 9 minutes ago, the beach is off limits for vehicles, so I’m out of luck. I’ll have to try again some other time.

Heather and I went for a nice walk this morning, taking pictures and collecting shells, then this afternoon we frolicked in the water, getting tossed around by pretty stout waves and just having a pretty darn good time. I’m glad we came, staying at the beach house for the weekend is making all the trials and tribulations of family totally worth it.

I’m slowly getting my reading done, at the pace I’m going, I’ll still get it all read by monday when I have to write the paper, so I think we’ll all be okay on that front. I really have to start putting the research projects into overdrive once I get back home, though. One research project is going to be on the question “What is the essence of photography, and how does it apply to digital media?” I think the other one may be on the question of “how do think creatively and seek out inspiration and imagination.” I’m not so sure about the second one, but I feel like its something I NEED to research.

Anyway, we’ve played a lot of Fluxx and Ziggity this weekend so far, they seem to be pretty popular games, at least with the teens, with whom heather and I always seem to associate with more on these family trips.

Anyway, off to read some more journals and stuff.

well, it was a 5 and a half hour drive down to galveston. wasn’t too bad except the last hour or so when we hit houston in rush hour traffic.

anyway, there’s a bunch of really nice folks here who I’ve never met, but were all willing to sit down and play some Fluxx with us. now its late and we’re trying to get my dad’s computer up and running, but it keeps locking up when he puts the wireless card in. we’re going to have to find out how to remove the driver and reinstall it safely.

I guess i’m tired. I dunno.

Mink de Ville – Spanish Stroll

That doesn’t really phase me, though.

I haven’t decided yet if I like my new “camera.” So far I’ve taken a picture on the “film leader” and made one “double exposure.”

I’m going to stick with it… there’s not too much “film” to shoot.

So I bought this printer off of eBay that is the same model and make as the one I’ve been using in the photo department and I finally got it hooked up to test it out. Turns out this guy is in perfect condition, cranking out the print just like a pro. I paid relatively little for it so I’m really happy. Now I don’t have to bring a laptop up to the studios just to take my images from my desktop computer in my studio, down the hall to the public printer. I can just sit in my little dark cave of an office and do all my work in one place. Woo Hoo! I also no longer have to fight anyone else for time on the printer. I’m so excited!

I had to cancel my D&D game for tomorrow and I feel kind of bad about that. I want to be a responsible and consistent DM, but at the same time, I need to be a responsible student and keep up with my studies. I’ve been fretting over this week’s reading because I got the book extra late and didn’t get to start reading it when I wanted to. As a result, I’m behind on my reading and it’s a bit thicker book than the last couple we’ve read, so I’m worried I won’t get it done. It’s got lots of pictures, though, so it may be all okay. I have a month off from running now, and I hope that this doesn’t hurt the game. I want to spring back into it as strong as before, but this semester is really kicking my ass, so I hope I can continue to juggle it all.

I talked to mom last night and found out when and where the family reunion is next week. We’ll be going down on Thursday to Galveston and returning Sunday. While we’re down there I will be picking up the flat-file I won on ebay for rediculously cheap as well. Its just a little ways out of the way, so it should be a quick side trip. Maybe dad and I will run up and get it on Saturday or something. That reminds me, I have to email the guy and get directions.

I think my print is almost done, so I’ll be able to abandon the studio and head back to the house and get started on my reading. I’ll have to wake heather up soon so we can go.
