All in all, I really prefer Windows XP to all the operating systems I’ve ever used, but I have run up against one very frustrating question. How do you install software in one user profile so that it is accessable and freely useable by all users? If you can answer this question, I owe you a big hug.

I haven’t used XP much, but is there an Administrator account? If there is, log on as the Administrator to install the software. That would make it available for all profiles.
If there isn’t an Administrator account, it’s probably just a Start Menu thing.
Yeah, that’s what I would have thought too, but unfortunately both of our accounts are Administrators and it’s not a Start Menu thing because certain apps I install on my account are read only on her account, or crash the system (stack pointer set to 0) when she browses to them and runs them. It’s horribly confusing.
Try this:
Go to Tools, Folder Options and make sure that “Use Simple File Sharing (recommended)” is not checked. That should put the “Security” tab on the properties of the files and folders so you can grant permissions to the other users.
If that doesn’t work…. re-install win98?
