Well, Heather and I took a couple days off work for our sanity and if anything, it showed us our lives are really boring and non-productive. Some sanity.

We watched a bunch of TV and a bunch of movies, I played a LOT of WoW and she got going on painting the cabinet doors for the kitchen. I keep milling around the house trying to think of something more productive to do, but everything that I could be doing instead of WoW is about the same level of productivity. I could be working on my D&D setting. I could be reading book three in the Cleric Quintet. I could be painting minis. All of that has about the same value in the world. So instead I sit on WoW where I can at least chat with people I almost know.

At any rate, I did see some really good movies. I saw The Boondock Saints, which I had added to my Netflix queue on a whim, and ended up giving it Five Stars! Wow that was good, so visual, so visceral, and so entertaining. This was no film, which one reviewer complained about, but it was some damn good entertainment. Do yourself a favor and check it out. When I went to rate it on Netflix, I found that everything that was listed as “similar” I’d given five stars also, no wonder I enjoyed it (Snatch, Brotherhood of the Wolf, The Crow, Hackers, Desperado, El Mariachi, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, A Life Less Ordinary, and Fight Club).

We also saw Tampopo, which fairly well defies most description. Its kind of a longer attention span Kentucky Fried Movie that centers around the importance and value of food in Japan. Its got one long story, all about making the perfect bowl of ramen, a mid length story about a gangster and his erotic obsession with food, and 9 other shorter stories that all relate to food in some way. It was good, but I definitely looked to Heather for confirmation on how good/bad it was on many occasions, as well as a lot of “What the Fuck” moments.

So, as you may have noticed, I like to make userpics. I’ve all but tapped my most recent cache of ideas but am still in the mood to make some more. If you have any thoughts or ideas, please feel free to suggest them and I’ll see what I can come up with. I used to be on some UserPic contest communities, but all the winners looked the same and they all looked different than mine, so I quit. I need a bit of focus to go ahead and make more. So give me your tired, your hungry, and your lame ideas and I’ll try to capture them in still or motion 100×100 pixel imagery.

This is the coolest cell phone accessory every. Only one step away from my idea – they just need to think a little further ahead.

…and this is the best “power strip” ever!

Okay, so now I’m out of the lab and the blind spot has faded – so I’m doing better.

This weekend was pretty passable. Nothing amazing happened and I didn’t feel like the weekend was nearly long enough. I played a lot of WoW – I mean a lot. The big thing on Sunday was starting a new priest character with the specific intent on starting a new guild dedicated solely to priests. I got so sick of waiting to start a raid because we needed a priest, I thought I’d just start a guild that does nothing but collect priests and encourage people to create priest Alts to join. So I spent the day getting my new priest up to lvl 10 and buying the guild charter. Now I just need 7 more people to sign the charter for me.

We took the dogs to PetSmart to buy them food yesterday. I’m not exactly sure why, taking them out is such a hassle that it should be more of an adventure and not just a quick errand, but Heather insisted. Knight had never ridden in Heather’s car before and he leapt all the way across the car when he jumped in. He actually jumped from my side of the car into Heather’s lap. He seemed very confused when he landed. While we were at PetSmart, I started looking at the big 5 gallon watering stations and ended up buying a slightly cheaper 2.75 gallon water station for them. They have this bowl which is not exactly small that they drink from and you pretty much have to fill it up as soon as the finish drinking because the two of them can empty it together. I will be the first to admit that I’m no good at giving my dogs water, so I thought this would be a bit better. It takes longer to fill up, but I don’t have to fill it up as often.

We watched four episodes of Firefly with starburstlvr, blu3warri0r, and his wife on Friday (zero_interrupt and spazzy444 showed up too). I think they’re all hooked and we’ll probably do it again next week. Remember, this week is Movie Night. Picture up at 7:45 as usual.

Anyway, I’m bored, but not bored enough to keep rambling.

I have a blind spot in the middle of my vision. Its as if I looked into a really bright light, but I don’t remember doing so. Its really annoying and I wish it would go away.

In other news, I had seriously considered staying home today, seeing as how incredibly busy we’ve been in the office lately. But then, when I finally decide I might as well go to work, I get a message from Steve saying he will be late and he wants me to open the lab for him. Lucky.

Anyway, I’m having a bitch of a time writing with this blind spot, so I’ll just sign off here.

Firefly came early! Who wants to watch 3-4 episodes on Friday?

so I think this is going to be one of those days… one of those days where I have nothing pressing to do and no motivation to do those things that aren’t pressing. I may declare this a half day and go home early. I could spend the rest of the day sitting around raiding on World of Warcraft.

Speaking of which, my brother did find a 10 day trial, and so far he’s played about 4 hours of that 10 days – and he activated it on Friday. I want to play more with him, even if he does play kind of like he’s on crack. He plays EQ2, so I don’t know that I’m going to get him to convert so I at least wanted to make the best of our 10 days on the same game.

Crap, I was gonna write some other cool stuff here, but now I’m not in the mood to write. Go read someone else’s journal.

Imagine if you were getting paid the same wage/salary as you would have been in 1946? Grain prices have actually dropped $0.02 since 1946. Not surprising that this grain farmer feels this way.

Just remember how good we have it with that 3% anual raise.
