2560×1024

So I was reading PvP just now and he appologised for posting late the last few days and presented us with a couple of free desktop wallpapers as an offering. Now here’s were I get a bit miffed. You can go to all kinds of cool sites and get theme wallpapers (wow, PVP, Penny Arcade) – pretty much any website these days will create a wallpaper just to look cool and give you something (which is really nothing) for free.

But they’re always for regular monitor dimensions, which means those of us with dual monitors are left with either half a desktop or we have to cut and edit them to fit. Come on people, start making some 2560×1024 background! Get wtith the program, there are more of us out there than you think.

Stupid Macs.

Stupid Classic environment not working on our new Panther machines. I can’t even install OS9 under Panther and I totally don’t want to have to start again from scratch for one user.

me: “you’re at 112”
her: “which one is that?”
me: “second row, second one on the right”
her: walking to the second row and immediately turning left
me: shaking head and mumbling under my breath so only the guy at 101 can hear “It’s the one with the #112 on the side of it,” and then aloud “right, right, right!”

I think we need flashing lights and smoke signals.

Man I was enjoying that Hero game Derick was running. Fuck him and his lack of dedication to his own damn game. I was walking past my gaming book case the other day and I saw my Mummy book sitting on the shelf and remembered how bad ass that game is and even though I’m trying to hustle my ass up and get my D&D game up and running, I keep thinking how I miss modern drama games. Fuck a duck, I don’t know what to do. I’m not playing in a modern game, I’m not gearing up to run a modern game. I’m slipping out of an entire Genre. Fuck Fuck Fuckity Fuck Mother Fuck. I don’t want to stop development of this game world and try to convince people to play in a new game. I’ve had such moderate success with my White Wolf sessions lately. Maybe I need to try to recruit outsiders again. I keep getting the odd hit on my website from someone looking for a game. Damnit, I don’t know what to do. I’m really looking forward to this D&D setting. I’ve got plots and events running around my head, but I still feel like I’m not being true to my genre of choice.

Suggestions? Anyone?

A Letter to Discover – Am I over reacting?

This isn’t a question so much as a comment on how I’ve been
handled lately. Through some errors on the part of Discover Card,
a ballance transfer was made twice from to my Discover Card from
another store credit card I was working on paying off. There were
some timing issues that resulted in Discover Paying them twice
and as a result, my Discover account was put in a negative
ballance. I was far over my limit.

When I contacted Discover about this, they explained why it
happened, and promissed me I would not be penalized for this
action. I was thankful. When I asked if they could fix the
situation, I was informed that they in fact could not, that I
would have to contact the other Credit Card, get a refund from
them, transfer that to a check and pay it back to Discover.
Needless to say, that took almost two months (from the initial
mistake) to get all cleared out and I’ve still sitting at a
negative ballance.

I called to figure this out, and I was informed that large
payments to Discover can take over a week to process. That’s
added yet another week to the already excessively long time that
this error has been plaguing me.

My opinion of this is that even though Discover Card made a
mistake, and essentially locked my account for two months, all
they’ve been able to do to make ammends for it, is to promise not
to penalize me for their mistake. Seems like poor business.

I just wanted you to know how I feel and how little respect
Discover seems to give their card holders. Sure, my card says
member since 1997, but I think I’ll probably be canceling my card
once all my problems are all sorted out, if in fact they ever are
sorted out. This is a poor business model and I hope you do not
treat all your “members” this way.

Thank you for your time and I hope your hollidays are less
stressful than mine have been.

Sincerely,
Kenneth Close

Something Always Fucking Happens!

It seems like no matter how hard I try to do a little extra, to help someone out, to get something done at an opportune time, something always happens to keep me from doing it.

Tom asked me to do a banner for the interactive and I designed it last night so that I could come in early this morning and print it. Well, of course, if I come in, Craig has to come in and bounce the same server I’m trying to print through. So not only can I not print, but it cancels the print that I came in early to do. So getting up at Fucking 6:30 so I could get here 15-20 minutes earlier than normal is completely defeated and I’m still stuck with nothing and the possiblity of haveing to come back up early tomorrow or late tonight. Fuck Fuck Fuck. Who’s kharma did I run over this time!

I just spent at LEAST 2 hours working on one move in Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. It takes 5 minutes to climb to this wall I need to descend and apparently I don’t have the right timing on wall decents, so I spend 5 minutes at a time, only to die horribly. I’m beginning to fear that I may never finish the game. I’m 93% of the way done, but it’s a rental and I’ have to take it back wednesday. I’m sorry, but I just can’t see myself renting a game for 7% of the story.

Fuck this pisses me off. I think after you attempt something 50 times or more, you should be granted a special advance to move past it.

Well, the lab is closed, but people are still waiting for printouts. When are people going to realize if you wait until the last 10 minutes to print, you won’t see your printouts until after the lab closes.

fuckers.

I keep waiting for this one faculty member to hypervetilate or explode. We’re doing things “as fast as possible,” but attempting to buy $5000 worth of software with government money doesn’t work as fast as going to the store and buying one copy with cash.

Hmm, maybe I should just buy one copy 55 times. That might be faster.
