I Was hoping for Cary Grant

Jimmy Stewart
You scored 9% Tough, 23% Roguish, 52% Friendly, and 14% Charming!
You are the fun and friendly boy next door, the classic nice guy who still manages to get the girl most of the time. You’re every nice girl’s dreamboat, open and kind, nutty and charming, even a little mischievous at times, but always a real stand up guy. You’re dependable and forthright, and women are drawn to your reliability, even as they’re dazzled by your sense of adventure and fun. You try to be tough when you need to be, and will gladly stand up for any damsel in distress, but you’d rather catch a girl with a little bit of flair. Your leading ladies include Jean Arthur and Donna Reed, those sweet girl-next-door types.

Day of the Undead Drive II: “Drives Alive!”

I have found a system, slow and arduous as it may be, to move files off of the damaged portable drive so that I might recover my third critique from last semester before I go back to the manufacture and insist that they take this portable device and shove it right up their scuzzy port.

I’ve also moved all of my mp3s to a local drive and have archived most of the other data on my less portable external hard drive in anticipation of a potential crash. The devastating result of that drive’s failure yesterday is that my 16,000+ tracks in iTunes no longer have ratings, I no longer have playlists, and nothing is sorted in any intelligible fashion. I still have all the music but it is in a chaotic mass just waiting to be sorted out over the next 44 days, 14 hours, 3 minutes and 19 seconds. Give or take 2 years.

Gosh I hope all of my hard drives are crashing at once… one is completely non-responsive and one is acting up.

If the rest go, it’ll be like I rebooted my life.

La Jetèe : 1962

La Jetèe : 1962
La Jetèe : 1962” on Google Video
We were talking about this film in my Photo Studio class the other day… its a French film that is acually made up entirely of still photographs, kind of like a slide show. This is kind of like a Flash Movie before the internet even existed.

It is also the inspiration for 12 Monkeys.

Grad School: Semester 3 – Week 2

Well, week two is coming to a close but in a way it feels like week one. Last week our photo studio class was all but canceled and our photo history class was a brief overview of how much reading we are doing. I have to say I’m pretty overwhelmed by how much reading we will have to do.

I volunteered to be in the first crit group on top of that so I have to have my first group of work ready for Sept 21st. I need to figure out how to shoot photos again, I need to figure out how to scout locations again, I just need to get out there and do it.

I have a bit of a rejuvenated eye as to what I’ll be doing photographically this semester after class today, so I’m excited to do it, I just need to squeeze it into my already hectic schedule. While I was really enjoying Steve’s Eberron game, I’m kind of glad he decided to end it indefinitely, this way I get a weekend back. I’ve posed the option of moving my game to his saturday, which then frees up all my Sundays to work on class stuff. I also will still have early saturday mornings to go out and shoot. Derek is running his P’Tolus game this Saturday and I hope to have at least 150 photos before I play. I’m crossing my fingers and toes on this. There’s a lot of construction going on in Denton, so I have that going for me… I also need to find some abandoned spaces and take advantage of them as well.

This semester is going to be rough, but I’m pretty jazzed about it. I just need to pace myself, not get behind or loose steam, just take each challenge in stride and it will all work out.

I was talking with Dornith after class today and I am very excited about this semester. I like everyone in class and feel a very cool vibe happening in the group (though I still feel a bit of the wallflower, surprisingly enough). I expect to see some great things in that class, and I hope to be a part of at least some of that greatness.

Additionally, I am presently VERY excited for Heather as well. She’s got some very great prospects both academically and professionally on the horizon and things look really good. I’ve not seen her so chipper in a while. I wish we had the money to celebrate the elevated mood alone let alone the potential celebration we may need to have later. I’m sure she’ll post about it later in her journal, so you can read about it there.

Tomorrow may be a bike ride day.
