this one is interesting because of the emotional content compositionally. it’s almost guaranteed to evoke a sense of wistfulness in the viewer. it looks like dinner at grandma’s house. i think the emotional cue is the pressed-wood back chair. to me, it would be a quite different picture if the wooden chair were gone and in its place a plastic model by eames or herman miller. pictures often have visual cues in them that we don’t even consciously realize we’re seeing.
you know, I didn’t even think of that but you’re right. a full dinner on a table is one thing, but our furniture has really made it more classical. how interesting that I completely overlook that simply because I see those chairs every day.
