CFLs are a lot better than you may imagine. In less than a week, I have completely grown accustomed to the look and feel of the 30 CFLs that have replaced traditional incandescent bulbs in my house.
Currently I am biding my time and saving my dollars to replace the remaining bulbs (the first 30 cost $7 for 4 bulbs, the specialty bulbs will cost about $9 per bulb – they all will last 7-10 YEARS, though)
So read this article, then go the Home Depot and buy some N:Vision CFL bulbs. They’re great and will save you tons of money.
…oh, and ignore all the sexist banter in the article, heather likes the CFLs just fine.

Yeah, I had 6 standard bulbs in my bathroom, replaced them with CFLs. Nice. Will likely replace the 5 more some time soon.
I mean, come on… its a 9 year lifespan on the bulb, and it uses only 14 watts instead of 60, for the same light output!
Exactly. Plus they just make you look like you know what you’re doing. I need all the help I can get!
How are they working in your ceiling fans? We raplaced many of ours, but had to go back to standards in the bedroom ceiling fan due to constant flickering.
not a problem at all. in fact, most of the bulbs we put in were on ceiling fans.
Hmmm…I don’t know what was up with ours then. I thought it was the motion of the fan. Maybe we just got a crappy batch of bulbs.
or maybe they have been improved since.
