I dug out my TLR camera today and decided to experiment with some TtV photography. Its tough stuff, but with a nice cereal box and some patience, I got some good images.
I’m cleaned the ground glass and trimmed the lens chimney a bit, so I’m going to try to play around with it some more.
Watch for more experiments in my Flickr page that don’t go up as a POTD.
You’ll have to fill me in on what TtV photography is since I don’t know anything about it. But, nevertheless, love this photograph. The color, the grainy bits to the pic. Very nice.
TtV stands for Through the Viewfinder, where you basically use one camera to take photos through the viewfinder of another. It works best with medium or large format cameras with a ground glass viewing plane.
I shot this using my Canon Rebel XT, shooting through a Ricohflex TLR. I cleaned up the glass a bit, and I shortened the chimney (which connects the two cameras, made from a cereal box) to get a bit closer to the viewing plane; so hopefully the next shots will be a bit nicer.
Ah – I like it 🙂
Its gotten some good publicity on Flickr, too.
It was featured on Explore! on Flickr which is a pool of photos that no one is really sure how they get selected.
From there its become a favorite of 4 people or so, and has been requested to be added to two other groups.
