do you widget?
defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode YES
if you type the above string into your terminal you can then drag your widgets from the Dashboard to the desktop.

I had to cut back on my widget use. My compy doesn’t have the power to keep Mozilla and the …um…twelve widgets that I had on my desktop. : (
