Yeah, definitely wanting to see this movie, especially what I’ve seen of the faithfulness to the feel of the book.

I read quite a few interviews/saw some on tv, and the director mentioned a few times how part of the good thing about having the comic was there was your story board. I’ve been reading a few other comics history related books and over and over, they keep mentioning how comics translate to motion very well, because the essence of a comic panel is showing whats happening.

You take the panels of a comic as your camera shots and story board, and you’re halfway to being done with the visual look of the movie. Because of the green screen stuff, there was some comparisons to how Sin City was done and how Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow was done. Both films were making independently, but I think Rodriguez mentioned that when he saw SC, it was kind of a reaffirmation that doing that kind of film could come out very well.

Now, the fact that you had such a good work as Miller’s to start with makes it very cool. But remember too that Rodriguez kind of tricked Miller into joining him but did it by having shots done. If Miller hadn’t seen that the movie was gonna = the comic, you know he would’ve bailed. How cool is that for the guy who made the work your going to make into a movie, comes in and basically says “Yeah, that’s how I would’ve done it.” Score for Rodriguez.

and remember, Rodriguez was so dedicated to the true artistry of the film that he sacrificed his DGA to keep it as genuine as possible.

oh, and he wrote the score, too.
