I just noticed that on my friends page, there have been multiple comments on the loss of Hunter S. Thompson. But as I think back, I recall no statements of mourning for Ossie Davis.
Ossie Davis was an incredible actor who had a wide range of rolls and respect. Sure, he did things as menial as Panthro on the Thundercats, or Cliff’s dad on The Cosby Show, but he was also a serious dramatic actor and very active in the public community (delivering Malcolm X’s eulogy for example). I will always remember him and continue to be awed by his pressence in our lives.
Please, if you haven’t already, go rent or buy Bubba Ho Tep. You really will believe that he was JFK.
This is going to be a sad year when the Oscars do their memoriam

Ozzie Davis was something I noticed. I guess i’m a minority, but i’ve never cared much for Hunter myself.
they were both great in their own way and appealed to different people differently.
Everyone is missed by someone.
Of course, and i’m definatly not trying to imply that I’m happy he’s gone, I just don’t feel his loss as deeply as other people interested in Journalism do.
yup…
I respect his work, but do not mourn him deeply.
I do miss Ozzie though. Maybe I need to watch Bubba Ho Tep again, too.
I read the post the first time, and the headline, I swear….
But man, I never realized he was Panthro! I loved that show growing up.
Ozzie Davis roxxord and will be missed
And bubba ho-tep is an awesome movie, another great to add to his long list of great roles.
