“Sam Raimi and Tapert, when asked if they were considering Sean Scott Williams for the part of Ash, looked at each other for a minute and then, together said, “Who is that?” Sam then said, “I don’t think I’ve ever heard of him”.

“In regards to ‘Evil Dead 4 Raimi says, “There will be an Evil Dead 4, and there will ALSO be an Evil Dead Remake. The remake will be produced by Ghost House pictures, (his company with Tapert) and it will star a new cast and a completely new director. The point of Ghost House is that we want to bring new directors (like Takashi Shimizu of “the Grudge” to Hollywood and give them a chnace to make a good horror film.”

“On WHAT inspired him to allow the remake, Raimi said, “I love the original Dawn of the Dead, and I also really enjoyed the new Dawn of the Dead. I mean, they are both really great horror films. I want to let somebody with a fresh vision bring The Evil Dead to a new generation and a new audience with a different vision…”

“Contrary to what Raimi told Mr. D, the remake will be Evil Dead 1 and 2 together, but remade with a higher budget and a new cast and crew.

“However, Raimi will be directing and producing Evil Dead 4, which will star Bruce Campbell as ASH and will also have many of the actors from the previous Evil Dead movies. Raimi says that “This is the project I really want to make. The remake can belong to someone else, but part 4 will be a continuation of the original”.

“Ted and Sam Raimi have begun writing Part 4, and will be developing it for production later this year. Bruce Campbell and Tapert will both be involved… ”

Well, my favorite little printer in the phot building is out of commision, he’s still out for repairs and that means I have to use his bigger brother. Unfortunately, its not quite as nice, IMHO. Its got a slightly more trackline look to the prints, but then again, it may be the ICC profile I’m running. I’ll have to check online for newer ICC profiles. The one I have now doesn’t take into account the paper type.

Anyhoo, that aside, I have 20 prints to produce for Thursday. I have one in the box and only 19 to go. Unfortunately, the other downside to the Epson 2200 being out for repairs is that there is only one printer currently, which means I’m sitting here waiting for it to become available. I guess I should have just stayed at work this afternoon. I had just enough time to print one print before someone else came rolling in to print. Since I have SOOOO much to print, I stepped aside, but its been a little over an hour since I printed, so I’m really just wasting my time now. I finished all my touchups and am ready to start cranking out the prints, but I guess I’ll just have to hang out for a while.

And on top of that, I’ve got one of  the other grads planning to come in and print this evening, too. I know it would be expensive, but I sure could use my own printer at home – or at a studio that I currently don’t have yet. Hmmm, anyone have $5,000 to fund my grad work?

Booooooo!

One week from tonight, in honor of Halloween, movie night will be Army of Darkness. We’ll start at 8:00. No costume required, just a love for gruesome comedy.

Also, if there is interest, I might be convinced to play Evil Dead 2 before hand (starting at 6:00).

Edit: Evil Dead II has been replaced with George Romero’s Land of the Dead.

PQI mPack P800

So I finally settled on and purchased my new media player / card reader. Its an mPack P800 by PQI (yeah, I hadn’t heard of them at all either). I did a LOT of research to find one that did exactly what I wanted. The biggest thing I wanted it to do was play MP3s with playlists and display CR2 Canon RAW files on screen with their EXIF data. It sounded so simple in concept but it took nearly three weeks of constant review to finally find one that did it all.

Its a little cumbersome and a little slow, but it does everything I wanted. It even charges off the USB bus and mounts on the computer as a standard external hard drive. Its got an 80 GB HD so I shouldn’t have any problems with storage, and if worse comes to worse I can swap it out with a larger drive as they become available (though there is a sticker on it that specifically states: “Warning! Do not open this device. Not user-servicable part inside.”). I’ve already read of people swapping out the drive for 100gb drives. I don’t think I’ll need to do that for a while though. We’ll see once I get all my photos on it.

I’ll keep you informed as to my continuing opinion of it. Unfortunately, if I don’t like it, its got a 15% restocking fee. I’d better damn well like it.
