I’m too tired to post for real. Lets just say that as a web designer, I really sell myself short.

You are a drumstick.

Absolutely insane. That is how most would describe you. You aren’t afraid to take risks, and enjoy putting yourself in strange situations. Most people hang out with you because of your hilarious sense of humour. You light up any bad situation, and can help all of your friends with their problems, except for your own. Because of this, you enjoy being around people like you. Many shut you out for your very weird, random personality, but honestly, you shouldn’t care.

Most compatible with: Guitar, and another drumstick.

Movie Night!

Thursday, April 21st, 2005 | LiveJournal Archives | No Comments

Tomorrow is movie night and we have an interesting selection. I didn’t even know this movie existed until a couple of weeks ago. Some time ago, Heather and I stumbled across an Argentinian film called Nine Queens which was a con-artists heist movie with a lot of twists and turns. As soon as it ended, I exclaimed that someone should make an american version of it, because it was truly entertaining, exciting, had a feel similar to a lot of con-artist/heist films in english. It is in the same vein as Ocean’s Eleven, Snatch, the Italian Job and other such light hearted crime films. So now here’s Criminal, which according to Roger Ebert, is an almost exact duplicate, which means it should be pretty good.

Criminal

Con man Richard Gaddis (John C. Reilly) teams up with newbie Rodrigo (Diego Luna) for a heist that’s a little bigger than his usual projects: They’ll filch an antique currency note from a customer when he blows into town at the casino where Gaddis trolls for victims. But it seems the pair will need help, which lessens Gaddis’s take. Plus, his sister (Maggie Gyllenhaal) seems dead-set on spoiling his criminal fun.

We’ll start the movie at 7:45 as usual (though if I can convince Derek to come, we may have to push the start time back a bit). This is based on such a good, un-heard of film, you should really consider coming.

RoboRally Game: Next Saturday, April 30th, at 2:00 at Talon Comics and Games.

RoboRally is an interesting board game where you control a robot by programming randomly generated cards and try to complete an obstacle course relay race. It’s a fun game that can be played by up to 8 people and can last as long or as short as you configure the race. I’d really liek to play a big game, so if you’re reading this and are interested… please feel free to reply or stop by Talon.

I love when people have a complete and utter disregard for the rules and policies in the lab.

I walked in and there was a stack of flyers for an art gallery/store on the print-out table.

That is a violation of the University Printing Policies:

  • Printing will be provided ONLY to UNT students as it relates to their course work.
  • Multiple copies of the same print job are not allowed. Print jobs are considered the same if most of the original printed page is intact.

Blargh

I went and helped out taloncomicsDerek and lady_emeraldEmerald at the store yesterday. I have to admit, I liked helping, I liked putting effort into making the store a better place. I’ve wanted to do anything and everything I could to make the store better as long as I’ve been friends with Derek, but its just hard to involve yourself in it. I’m really glad to help and would love to continue helping whenever I have the time and energy. I’m going to try to go back today and help out some more, but since corwin75Steve is heading out to Pampa today, the office will be short handed.

Speaking of Steve, today will be his first GALMAC meeting, unless of course he grumps his way out of it. It’s officially still my duty, but in light of the changes in the future, I want him to come with me today so he can get a feel for the ropes. Not that the ropes are that hard over there. I’m not even sure how many people will be present today, for some reason it feels like a dead week. Maybe it’s just me.

Tonight is movie night and I still haven’t found a video cable so it looks like we’ll just be using the old TV. Maybe we’ll have a projector for next time.

I’m working on this web site for a faculty member so he can put his work up on the internet for everyone to see. I was reminded yesterday (gently and politely) that he’s not paying me to think, he’s paying me to create that which he cannot. So I’m going back to the drawing board and nearly redesigning the page from the ground up. but now that he’s seen what I can create and what I am capable of, he was able to fill in the blanks he was unable to fill in before. The only thing I’m still disgruntled by, is that he wants a simple, plain, bold typeface for the title of the page, where I think he should use his signature (which itself is simple, clean, bold, very legible, etc.). I think it would represent him better than any typeface I could dig up. My last attempt for a title font though, was too “edgy” for him. Too bad I spent a couple hours on that alone. I’m going to draw up some new layouts and we’re going to meet again on Tuesday. This is wierd because it’s the closes to actual contracted design work as I’ve ever done. The last time I did anything remotely similar to this was when I drew up a logo for a flight school that happened to run out of the same building I worked in as a lineboy. what is a lineboy

Movie Night!

Thursday, April 7th, 2005 | LiveJournal Archives | 2 Comments

This Friday (yes, tomorrow) is movie night. This week we’re watching:

Big Trouble in Little China
showtime: 7:45p
location: reply or email if you need directions

We were hoping to show it on a huge projector, but in the absence of both a screen and a 25 foot RCA Video cable, we’ll probably watch it on a TV. If you happen to have a 25ft RCA Video Cable, please let me know ASAP. I can finagle a screen, but the video cable is the tough part.
