So I finished the interviews yesterday. It’s going to be a tough decision. No one was “un-hireable” by my observation. The could all serve the lab well and do a good job. There was one outstanding candidate that is more than likely going to get the position, but she’s graduating in december, so I’m not sure how that will pan out. She did seem excited to hear that she could continue work after graduation and even in to graduate school, so we’ll see what happens.

I will more than likely hire two people, but it’ll be one person this week and possibly another in a couple of weeks depending on what my other lab attendants do with the hours.

Hmm, as I look at it now, I actually have 40 available hours in the lab… I may very well hire two people and possibly a third in a couple weeks. Crap, that makes my decision harder since I have to pick two people before tomorrow afternoon. I also have to give my guys raises. I had inquired on how to do that a couple weeks ago and was told I had to wait until after the new fiscal year, then it slipped my mind. I’ll try to do that this afternoon. I wish it was as easy to get a raise myself. Sure, I get 3% a year, but that’s not really that much in the grand scheme of things. But we’re working on it, we’re trying to get the whole computer support team upgraded.

Played a little CoH last night, but not too much. Played for about two hours doing some solo work and then helping out Fyxx with a mission. Then Pizza showed up and I got sucked into TV. Finished off the night devouring a few more chapters of Sojourn, the final book in The Dark Elf Trilogy. Next up, Icewindale.

Speaking of R.A. Salvatore… The other day, one of our newest faculy members came into the office and commented that I was reading Salvatore, because I had the book on my desk. He said the name as if he recognized it, but I was distracted at the time and didn’t think anything of it until later. Yesterday, I ran into him again and asked him how he knew the name. Turns out he did know the author, had read most of his Forgottem Realms books as well as some from other authors and a good number of Dragonlance books to boot. So now I have discovered that at least one of our faculty is at least aware of D&D novels… I find that interesting to say the least. His raving of Icewindale has encouraged me to plow forward even faster than I had been to get into that series as it’s sitting on my shelf waiting for me.

Well, speaking of which, the lab has slowed down some and I have the book with me, I only have about 70 pages left in this trilogy. Then I’ll probably take a little break to read some more of the WoD book before starting up the next trilogy.
