bored bored bored bored

I’m stuck in the lab for 30-howevermany minutes wanting to go back and finish up the long ass mission that Steve and I were working on. It’s been freakishly long and we don’t have that much time to play, so the chances of us finishing it are pretty nil at this point. I just don’t want to have to start it all over again because it’s so grueling. Also, I don’t know when I’m going to be able to play with Steve again, so I’d like to finish this with him before he logs off for who knows how long.

Tonight Heather and I are working out and I don’t feel like I’ve drank enough water to balance out the huge piece of cake I ate. I’m also afraid that if steve and I try to finish this mission, we’ll be running late and I hate going to the rec center late because it means we leave late, which means we get home late, which makes me feel like I just lost part of the day.

Oh well, it’s not all that bad… I’m just bored and don’t have anything better to write about.

We watched The Girl Next Door last night. it was a lot more redeemable as a movie than I expected. I expected a madcap, rauccus comedy, but I got a movie with humor and heart – and porn stars.

Well, a good night overall, but a bad night on City of Heroes. Some nights just don’t go your way in Paragon City. 6 deaths in the few short hours that I played, a total of probably 12-16k debt earned. Well on my way to that debt badge.

Out of CoH was good though, had a good, cheap, simple dinner, watched some decent TV, spent some nice quiet time with Heather… now I’m gonna go read a book until I read the same paragraph twice and go to sleep. Have fun all you night owls.

This weekend wasn’t too bad really, so now that the week is here and I’m pretty well bored to death, I’ll write about what I didn’t have time to write about this weekend.

Friday I went to the Amon Carter museum to see the priveate opening of an exhibition of one of our faculty members. He’s been working on this project for years and I’ve gotten to see little hints of it along the way and was really excited when I got the invite to the “private” opening. Private, of course, means invitation and museum members only. Now how that broke down as far as I could see it, was about 10-15 people who genuinely showed up to see his work and support him and about 100 people who were there for free food and socialization, a Friday night out on the town. Not that that’s really a bad thing, I’d be happy if I had some kind of opening or something that was a social event, too; it was just wierd to be there specifically to see the photos and we happened to get food, while there were so many people who were there to get food and there happened to be photos.

Anyway, the photos were stunning. I’d seen a bunch on the computer, you know, about 12-14 inches across, and we actually were given a comp about 2 feet across for christmas. When we actually saw them at the show, most were at least 3 feet across and a select few were 6 feet across. It was really astounding (to not use the word stunning again, though that’s really the best word). I wish there had been fewer people milling about because I didn’t get as much of an opportunity to really appreciate the work as much as I’d have liked. I don’t know how Brent felt about it, but I got tired of people just looking at them and making vacation photo type comments like, “we really should go there some day,” or “it’s really beautiful out there.” Maybe I was looking at it wrong and seeing the photos more than the subject, but I really thought the quality and composition totally outweighed the fact that those hills and valleys really exist. And then there was the fact that a story went along with the whole thing that some people seemed to overlook as well.

I guess everyone sees art differently.

Saturday I spent almost the whole day playing City of Heroes. I pondered mowing the lawn more than once, but never really felt motivated to do so. That evening I went over to corwin75‘s and played some high level D&D for a bit. Was hoping for a larger turn out, but we did okay and kicked both of his challenges in the balls. I have to say, Riposté is a pretty disgusting character and he just continues to get more so with each level and treasure horde he collects. Now if only I could afford to upgrade his weapons from +7 to +11. That’s gonna take a few million gold. Maybe my Efreeti can help me out.

And then Sunday Heather and I decided we were gonna move our workout to Monday because trying to motivate ourselves to go out to the rec center on Sunday was too easy to slack off on. So instead, I finally got out and mowed the front lawn like I had wanted to do on Saturday. But then when I finished, and realized I had mowed part of the street even (our grass had overgrown not only the curb, but also the street), I finally busted out the weed eater and started to do some edging. That’s supposed to be Heather’s contribution to the yard work (that and buying and killing yard plants), but I finally couldn’t let it go any longer. I started by finding the curb under all the grass and weeds, then started to widen our walkway from the street by about 6-8 inches by beating back the grass; and then, finally, widened our driveway by almost a foot by beating back all that overgrown grass. When I got to the end of the driveway, I had to put down the weed eater and swap out for a shovel and rake to beat that overgrowth back. This is the first time I think that I’ve seen my whole driveway, possibly ever.

Heather and I then took my credit card and went luxury shopping (yeah, bad I know). We ate a fantastic dinner at Texas Roadhouse and then bought nothing but luxury items (beer, coffee, ice cream, etc.) at the grocery store. It was nice and even though the evening kind of fell off and even sucked a bit at the end, it was nice for the most part.

and here I thought I wouldn’t have anything to write today.

I love Nip/Tuck. It’s an awesome show, and almost more so, it has awesome music… both the acutal theme music as well as the music they play while operating and such (they always make a big deal out of what song is playing when they start working on someone). I found this great database that lists pretty much ALL the music from Nip/Tuck, not just what’s on the soundtrack. So now that I’ve gotten and love the soundtrack, I have a daunting task of building the “unofficial” soundtrack on my Nomad.

If you have any of these songs and can share them with me, please let me know so I can add it to the collection.

So Knight’s been really bad about eating his food lately… as in he hasn’t been. We’d feed him in the evening like normal and he’d look at it, push it around with his nose as if looking for something and walk away. I tried to tempt him by pouring some bacon drippings on it, but he just kind of licked the bacon grease off some of the pieces and walked away. This however, made it much more difficult to keep Ia from eating his dinner for him, so I had to start locking his food in his cage so he could eat it when he was in there alone. Anyway, we were trying to figure out what was going on with him as he wasn’t showing any other signs of illness of discomfort. His poop was fine, he was happy, he didn’t suffer any pain anywhere on his body (we gave him a bath the other day and he got rubbed all over and definitely enjoyed it), nor has he been crying or whining any more than normal (he whines when the cats won’t play with him – which is whenever he can see them). We hadn’t changed his diet any, we bought the same brand of food, but then we started thinking how that brand comes in four different flavors (Original, Beef, Chicken, and Lamb) and we’ve always just grabbed one randomly, thinking the dogs would appreciate that. But apparently, we’d never grabbed Lamb before because I’m pretty sure that’s what we picked up this last time. When Heather went to get cat food yesterday, she picked up a small bag of Original flavor for Knight and he scarfed it down like he hadn’t eaten in a week (which was kind of true). So I guess we’ll either have to never get him Lamb again, or always get Original. I think we’ll probably try out the other two flavors just to test him and see, I’d still like them to have a variety, but apparently Knight likes the sheepies too much to eat them.

So now he watches TV and is a selective eater. Maybe he saw a show on Animal Planet about sheep.

It’s been hard lately splitting time between reading, reading, tv, movies and City of Heroes. I feel bad that I’ve been “slacking” on CoH, but at the same time, I’ve been reading more and that feels good. I’m trying to make a habit of reading, but it’s tough. I’m wondering if I’d be able to read on the treadmill if I actually start trying to do 15 minutes of cardio every morning before work (not that I really expect that to work out all to well either). I’ve read and been told that doing cardio first thing in the morning gives you more energy and you burn more calories regularly throughout the day, even if your sedentary like I am at work. I’ve done it in the past, but dropped it after one or two attempts. Now that I’m working out more regularly and just trying to be more healthy in general, it may not be as much of a challenge to keep it up.

I just want to see my love handles go away damnit… that’s the only progress I’m really looking forward to.

By the way, if you want quite possibly the coolest looking skin for Windows Media Player, you’re gonna have to get the Microsoft Plus! Digital Media Edition… But it’s totally worth it… very nice, minimal, informative, clean and comfy.

How could I NOT post this meme!!!

Crazy good, unexpected night last night, but as details are not entirely my own, I’m not at liberty to discuss them. Lets just say that the night started out kind of bad, but four hours after going to bed, things got much better. Though sleep afterwards was sporadic at best. Still woke up strangely early in the end, about 7:30. It was early enough it was still cool and comfortable outside so I sat outside for an hour reading The Crystal Shard.

When I went outside, I did notice that Knight hadn’t eaten anything since I gave him dinner last night. I don’t know why he’s not eating. Maybe he just doesn’t like the food we bought him. Hopefully its that and he’s not sick. I do need to take him to the vet this month, so I may talk to the doctor about his eating habits, but I really think he’s just finicky. He nuzzles through his bowl as if he’s looking for a different flavor or something. I need to start keeping track of what food flavors we buy so when he doesn’t like one, I know which one not to buy again.

I feel like I need a new Userpic to be my default, but I can’t come up with anything. I’m sure I’ll think of something soon though.

Anyway, so yesterday was a pretty good day overall. We watched some movies and TV. We gave the dogs baths, which they were both very good dogs for it. Then, to partially reward them and also to keep them from rolling in the back yard and getting dirty right away, we took them for a walk. It was hot, but not horrible and we probably walked a couple miles, even though I realized after we were almost home, that I acually had my GPS on me which would have been nice to at least see how far we actually walked. Then when we came home, I think Heather and I both intended to actually do stuff around the house, but we were so hot, we just collapsed in the living room. We watched some more TV, ordered food, waited 45 minutes for mine to arrive and then another 45 mintues for them to bring Heather her correct order, and then watched another movie. I think I watched three movies yesterday.

So I’ve been wanting to get a new Cell Phone but techinally there’s nothing wrong with mine. I have reached the point where Sprint will give me a $150 rebate on a new phone, and I could get a good picture phone for like $70, but Heather and I have the same phone and that’s very conventient. Her phone isn’t up for rebate until March though… I will either finally break down, but I think it would be best if I waited.

What the hell happened to The Screen Savers! It’s ugly and has a completely new feel. It feels hackneyed and almost more amateurish than it was before. It’s like it’s going backwards in quality. Ugh, I can’t get over how bad this is, I mean really. Even the old personalities who are still there (Kevin, Dan, Sarah, etc.) feel like they’ve lost all their professionalism. First they dumped Leo when G4 first bought out TechTV, now Patrick is gone and replaced by this dip wad in a camo jacket. Fuck. Damn you G4, damn you straight to hell.

Stupid timesheets, stupid paperwork, stupid automatic forms.

Can’t I just turn in the timecards that I collect? No. I have to convert those timecards to official UNT timesheets.

Argh.
