Standing Tall and Proud
Monday, June 30th, 2008 | LiveJournal Archives | 5 Comments
All this weekend, Ansel has been working on trying to stand up. He’s been pulling up on pretty much everything in the living room with several failed attempts and half successes (getting stuck and us helping him finish up). Well, last night, while Heather was surfing the internet and I was playing Assassin’s Creed, Ansel got bored with his toys and squirmed over to his jumper (he still doesn’t crawl) and then, all on his own, pulled himself up to a standing position. We were so proud of him and he is obviously very proud of himself in this photo! We were both cheering for him so much I was almost afraid he’d forget that he can’t really stand on his own and show off his other new trick: clapping. Fortunately, he never forgot that he needed that support and always kept one hand on the jumper. He’s getting so big and so smart, I just love him so much.
Everyone say “YAY! ANSEL!”

The Man behind The Man behind The Man…

…in which I talk about the nature of being support staff.
I’m sure the same is true in the public sector as it is in government and public education, but tasks have a way of rolling downhill. The problem is, if tasks, recognition, and money were on one of those rock-sorting conveyor belts, money would be a tiny rock and would fall through to someone far up the line, recognition would be a medium sized rock and would probably trickle out a few bins up from where I am… and from where the big ass tasks and workload rocks fall. › Continue reading
