Bollywood Night this Friday

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006 | LiveJournal Archives | No Comments

we’ll be watching Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. I havne’t decided yet if we’ll be outdoors or in, so be sure to ask me closer to the day (say, thursday). We’ll probably be shooting for an 8:00 start time regardless of location.

up side, it should be bug free outside. down side, it’s been fairly cold lately. if you have an opionion (on the indoor/outdoor debate), post it and I’ll take it into condsideration.

if anyone has one of those outdoor wrought iron fire pit kinda things, that might be a fun option.

NaNoWriMo Sadness

Monday, October 30th, 2006 | LiveJournal Archives | 4 Comments

I did NaNoWriMo two years ago and loved it. It was tough, it was grueling, but it was exciting and satisfying. Since then, I’ve taken up Grad School in an attempt to get my MFA and I haven’t had the time to spare to do NaNo again.

This saddens me. I’ve actually had at least 5 good ideas for NaNo’s, I just can’t afford to take the time off to participate. November is a crucial month for school and would kill me to try to write 50,000 words at the same time.

NaNoWriMo needs to move to July.

How True he Speaks

There was more to the comic, but really, this is funny enough on its own.

Here’s the deal. We had to cancel our Halloween get together for many reasons, but in its stead, we have decided to host an impromptu movie night.

At 7:00, Sunday the 29th we will be getting together to watch Slither. This is a heavy comedy, tongue in cheek horror. From what I’ve read/heard, if you can find enjoyment in the Evil Dead series, then this movie should be pretty fun and entertaining. Bring friends, bring booze, bring snack, bring yourselves if nothing else.

We look forward to seeing you out there, have a great weekend and come on out if you have the time and inclination (or even just the time).

We’re Getting There

I had a bit of a slow start on my prints this critique (see previous photo-related post), but things are moving along at a good clip now. I bought some watercolor type photo paper and it has a really great texture, but because I wasn’t paying attention, I printed a couple of them on the back of the paper instead of the front and learned that they look WAY crisper that way. It still has a sweet matte finish, slightly less texture, but the blacks are so dark you feel like you could fall into them. Very nice, very nice indeed.

Anyway, I’ve got one print left going tonight and then I’ll be back to do reprints of the ones I printed “correctly” sometime tomorrow. I’m still intrigued by this project and regardless of the opinions on Thursday, I’ll probably keep doing it and advance the theme a bit.

Anyway, here’s something else I’ve been playing with lately…
