I’m in the office, talking to Steve about Nur and food, I say “She doesn’t understand why we don’t like the food she eats.” and his only response is “Shut up and pass the bacon.”

Ah, another crazy day in the office.

I Think it’s going to be another one of those days.

I still have a lot of crap on my plate for the day, I’m going to try to pawn one simple, yet time consuming, task off on Steve and Nick. Hopefully one or the other of them has their car here today. 😉

I’m finishing up the brochure for GALMAC, and going to continue progress on the web site. I ran my progress build by Craig last night and he was pleased with what he saw. He an I come to web design from different angles, so it’s nice when we see eye to eye on something. I’m going to try to clean it up a bit, but mostly, I’m going to try to make headway more than anything else.

I’m ready for the weekend, damnit. I’m ready for a day or two off. I’m looking forward to meeting Knight, but we’re suspicious that Erika intends to leave him with us on Sunday if everything works out. I don’t really have a problem with that, I just don’t know if I should expect it or not.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, yesterday was Ia’s birthday. Happy Birthday Ia!

well, time to get to work.

The icon brigade continues. I tell ya, when I actually scrape up the cash to be able to use more, I’ll already be overloaded again. Sheesh.

I finished the initial build of the new nav content for the web page I’m fixing, but it’s taking a day and a half to upload. I want to have Heather and my boss check it out. They both have pretty discriminating taste when it comes to navigation. Its based in part on what I had on the old SOVA page, but updated with some stuff I learned on the D&D page. See? all those useless pages I create have a purpose. I learn from them and use the code I create or customize for them and apply it to web pages that count for something. But yeah, for some reason, its taking for farkin ever to upload. I’d like to think it would be done before the end of the day, but it doesn’t look like its going to make it.

If you want to check it out, the link is http://www.art.unt.edu/new2. The part I finished is the pull down menus at the top. The page I was given had all that in Flash, which was pretty, but not very functional, especially for screen readers, which we have to code for when doing University pages. tell me what you think.

Anyway, it’s about time to go. If the page isn’t up yet, it’s because its STILL LOADING!!!

So, yeah. I rented Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow on Saturday for the Xbox. I have to say, if I had the money I’d be tempted to buy this bitch. Unfortunately, one of the things its most touted for is the multiplayer, which I can’t really partake in. I could get together with three other people, pull together TVs and Xboxes and do LAN four player, but since I don’t have, and don’t intend to subscribe to Xbox Live, I really won’t ever get to play the multiplayer. I’d like to try out the multiplayer, but I don’t see it happening often enough to validate a purchase of the game. I’d have to rent it almost 8 times to make buying it worth while. So yeah, I think I’ll just finish up the single player, maybe hold on to it long enough to do that, as Hastings does pro-rated late fees now, and then return it. If the opportunity comes up to do some Multiplayer before I have to take it back, then I’ll do that. If at a later date we’re having a multi-xbox, multi-tv game-a-thon, then I’ll go out and rent it and encourage the other xboxers to do the same. Otherwise, I’ll enjoy the story and move on with life.

It’s been a really cool game though, almost exactly what I’ve been looking for. I very well may have to buy the original (since it’s only like $12 new) and play the hell out of it. I’ve heard there are a lot of differences, but it’s still high stealth, and that’s what I’ve been itching for. I have no idea how far through the game I am right now, I’m in Indonesia so if anyone’s played it all the way through and know how much more is after Indonesia, feel free to pipe up.

In other news, we’re negotiating the adoption of a new dog (did you think I was going to say child?). Someone here on LiveJournal needed someone to take a dog off her hands and her description of the dog sounded like a perfect match to our Ia. I’ve been emailing the owner back and forth now since yesterday and things are sounding pretty good. I know it’s going to be tight on our budget, as things are already pretty tight, but heatherejcHeather is confident that we can make it work. We’ll be buying double food, and there will be two trips to the vet, but I guess if we have to make sacrifices for something, it might as well be another living being. So great, we’re going to be a 5 animal family. Pretty much the only thing at this point that could sour the deal, would be if Knight and Ia don’t get along, which again, from the descriptions, I don’t think is possible.

The dogs will have to move to the kitchen as there won’t be enough room in the living room for their cages, but I guess that’s not too bad. It just means they’ll have to go further on the carpet with wet tootsies when it’s muddy or rainy outside. It’s not too bad though since the two floors they’d be running on are both crappy carpet that we don’t care that much for anyway. I hope they get along famously and I hope five animals isn’t too many for us.

How many animals do you have?

So if “The days of being lazy and taking security for granted are over,” then why am I getting snipped at for telling someone it’s more secure and safer to send email in text format rather than html format? Some days my job just confuses me.

Hmmm, apparently my LiveJournal Style sheet got screwed and I lost my font selection. It’s back and as good as ever. I just think it’s wierd how long it took for me to notice.

An Amendment

I have to say, now that he’s talking, just speaking openly, he’s a lot
better than when he was lecturing (reading aloud).

From the 3rd Dean Candidate Presentation

He’s obsessed with a microphone even though he’s fully audible. Now if he
would only “present” himself, rather than just reading some speeeh
verbatim. I feel like I’m back in a lecture class.

Is he even saying anything important? He’s talking about potentates.

Almost 30 minutes and he’s touched a “point.” I must admit, even though this
sounds like a “5000 word – what I did for my summer vacation” style essay,
his idea of the visual arts being a cultural and sociological leader is
very reassuring.

He’s a bit stiff.

So, 15 minutes ‘tli lunch. We have a third Dean’s candidate tonight, so I effectively only have 2 hours and 15 minutes left of work, with a one hour lunch break coming up. I get so sick of having to drive home for lunch every day. When we build a deck, I’m so building a machine that can let the dog out on a timer. Actually, she’s been so good lately, I think she could probably handle a situation where she could come and go at will, a flap of sorts. Of course, she did eat a bunch of Bulgar Wheat wraps right off the table the other day. Maybe she needs a quaranines space in the house that she can enter into if she wants to be in, but still have access to indoors and outdoors. We need a sun room. Too bad there’s nowhere to put it. That’d be perfect for her. Maybe if an when I build that deck, I’ll see what it would take to make a kind of airlock of a sunroom between the house and the deck. I think that’s exceeding my vision though.

The Spycraft game is tonight. I’m looking forward to it, but not as much as orosCraig. From the sound of his IMs, he’s bouncing off the walls in anticipation. I hope I live up to his excitement.Tonight shouldn’t be too tough to run, it’s mostly a continuation and possibly conclusion of last weeks intro story. Next session will be the first really tough one as I’ll have to actually start a new sub-story. I need to start envisioning an arc. I know where I want it all to go, and I know some things I want to see happen along the way, but I don’t really have a path yet. I need to work that out. I also need to decide how fast I want them to level and how much xp to give out to pace that leveling. I’m playing with some numbers in my head, but there a little tough to estimate without writing something down. I’ll to look into some of the numbers this evening before the game.

We’re running out of money again. I think some of it has to do with Heather’s kitchen project. When we got our tax return, we did spend quite a bit of money, but there was supposed to be a $200 buffer in our checking account. Now I will admit, I spent that $200 on my Clié, but I’m also paying it back and only owe $90 on that buffer. After looking at our money this morning, I really don’t think there’s still $110 left after all our monthly expenses. I know Heather’s really been looking forward to this kitchen, an I know she paid a lot of it out of her allowance, but aside from eating out, where the hell did that money go? we bought crazy amounts of stuff at the beginning of the month, but it’s all been reimbursed from our personal allowance accounts. I just don’t know anymore. I’m sure it’ll all work out in the long run.

Time to go to lunch.
