well, apparently I decided I didn’t need the end of my finger because I just chopped it off while making dinner. I hurts like hell and seems to want to bleed forever, other than that, staring into my finger was at least interesting.

PARTAY!

Monday, February 16th, 2004 | LiveJournal Archives | No Comments

So some friends of mine have invited me to a party and told me to invite all my friends. I don’t have any, so I figured I’d just put it here for all my virtual friends to see. It’s a Mardi Gras party and there will be beads (that must be earned I guess, some of their parties get a bit, uh, drunk).

Come join the fun and festivities for
the Craig and Laura 1st
Annual Mardi Gras blow out.

There will be
Hurricaines to quench your thirst and
music to set ya on fire.
There will be
beads a plenty…and you all know
what that means.
We even have masks
for you shy types. Please bring your
favorite cajun foods.
But no Crawfish
(Laura doesn’t like the head sucking).

The Beads and Coins begin to fly at
8:30 – Sat 2/21

To get to our house, just take I-35 W. South to the Ponder exit
(FM 2449). Turn Right. Go over the bridge to the first left. At
the stop sign, turn left (Sonoma Drive). We are at 4216 Sonoma,
on the right hand side.

SEE YOU THERE!!

There, now I’ve invited all my friends. You can call me Julian.

I keep thinking I should just stop drinking my coffee and take a nap in my chair. No one would notice so long as I made it to my 10:00 meeting.

It’s been a long, wierd week. I’m not going to go into a lot of details as to what’s been going on, but it’s certainly been abnormal. The web site redesign project has been put on hold indefinitly. There’s been a lot of poitical flak about it and basically we’ve been shut down until some of the political involvement shifts. It sucks, but it doesn’t. We were supposed to have something live by Sunday and, well, realistically I didn’t see that happening at all.

OwlCon, like I said, was pretty fun, except for the dying bit. I spent way too much money, ate too much crap, and actually gamed myself out. By the time we got to the last session, with the ammount of gaming and the death to account for, I just wasn’t in the mood anymore. I feel a little bad because I think Nick was really looking forward to the last game, but I really liked the idea of getting home before midnight. We actually got back to Denton just after 9:30 and I was home again home again jiggity jig by 10. It made the weekend all that much better.

Monday, not much happened. Same for Tuesday. Tuesday night was a harsh reminder that I died at OwlCon when I showed up for the game at Talon and determined that I was too low level to play with those folks. I coudl have played if I really wanted to, but it would have involved taking less xp at a greater risk of life. Not a fair trade off to me. So instead, Heather and I stayed at home, recorded “24” and watched Lost in Translation. I throroughly enjoyed it. I didn’t even realize it was by Sophia Coppola until the end, but when I go back and think about it, I can kind of feel The Virgin Suicides within it. Bill Murray was great, as was Scarlett Johansson. Maybe I should start a movie review blog, just for the movies that I watch, even though I’ve been watching fewer and fewer. I think I’d be an okay reviewer, even though I’m not as critical as most.

Wednesday we watched “24.” The episode was really one of the best ones this season. I was throroughly impressed and was clinging to my seat through the entire episode. After that, we watched Intolerable Cruelty. I don’t feel like it was on par with most of the other Coen Brother’s movies, but it had some good points, and taken on it’s own (not compared to, say, Oh Brother… or Raising Arizona) it fared quite well. George Clooney was very fun and quirky, almost a reprise of his role in Oh Brother… and Catherine Zeta-Jones, well, lets just say I didn’t hear a lot of what she was saying, I was otherwise distracted. Holy handgrenades!

Tonight, however, I actually do get to play Manthuu again. We’ve got some other low level people signed up, so the APL will be in range for me. I need to at least get to 6th level so I can have the option of retiring. I’m still not sure I’ll be going that route, but I want that option available to me. Maybe like the threat of retiring my dice, he’ll start doing incredibly well.

Well, I doubt hardly any of you who read this care, but I generated a chart of Manthu’s efforts in Living Greyhawk so far this year. I’m trying to decide whether to continue playing him or not. He has the option to retire to the highlands, get land and title, and return to his original career – farming. Anyway, here’s the chart.

President Match

Here were my results:

1 Kucinich Score: 100%
2 Sharpton Score: 97%
3 Kerry Score: 96%
4 Clark Score: 90%
5 Edwards Score: 85%
6 Dean Score: 83%
7 Bush Score: 16%

Good thing I’m not voting by hair, otherwise it’d be either Sharpton or Kerry .
